PERSONALITY ASSESSMENTS
WHAT ARE PERSONALITY ASSESSMENTS?
Emotional assessments or personality assessments are formal standardised assessments conducted by registered educational psychologists to assess a child’s social and emotional dynamics that are vital in understanding a child’s growth and/or difficulties that may be present.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PERSONALITY ASSESSMENTS?
The emotional evaluation focuses on the emotional state, strengths and difficulties of a person. This assessment is usually needed when a child or teenager has anxiety, anger, sadness, or difficulty interacting with peers, teachers, or parents. Various methods, including tests and clinical observations are used to draw conclusions regarding a child’s mental state and experiences. At Mizu Therapy & Assessment, our specialist, registered Educational Psychologist, Riza van der Merwe, has a special interest in neuropsychology, as well as the Rorschach Inkblot Test.
Due to its effectiveness, our psychology practice examines children/students using this projective test type of personality test, amongst others. In this test, children are prompted to offer responses to ambiguous images, words or scenes. The ultimate goal of these examinations is to uncover and identify the hidden emotions and or conflicts projected onto the test. These identified issues can then be addressed appropriately through psychotherapy and other therapies available at our practice, such as play therapy, sand tray therapy etc.
