SUBJECT CHOICE ASSESSMENTS
WHAT ARE SUBJECT CHOICE ASSESSMENTS?
Subject Choice Assessments are formal assessments conducted by registered educational psychologists utilising psychometric testing. The primary focus of these tests is to determine which school subjects would be best suited to the specific child/student. As each individual will have their own personal combination of interests, value systems, abilities and aptitude, scholastic and or academic history and background, these aspects will have to be interpreted and analysed to produce a complete, unique, suggested guideline for subject choices.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF SUBJECT CHOICE ASSESSMENTS?
Subject choice assessments are an important tool to assist students in choosing subjects based on their ability, interest and personality and, in doing so, shape a future career path that supports and aligns with who they are in terms of the assessment profile.
Subject Choice assessments aim to assist learners entering Grade 9 with their choice of subjects to continue their FET phase (Grade 10 to 12) at High School. These assessments may also help learners in Grade 7 when looking to further their education in the senior phase of formal education in a specific type of school, e.g. Technical, Agricultural, Art, Music & Ballet or General Academic schools.
Valuable information about potential, aptitude, personality, interests, values, and study habits provides insight into possible interventions required to develop certain of these areas within an individual.
