WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THERAPLAY?
Theraplay’s aim is to enhance self-esteem, attachment, trust and joyful interaction between child and parent. Sessions are typically structured to include fun, personal, physical and interactive activities that replicate the normal, healthy and natural interactions between children and parents. Children are generally referred for Theraplay for a wide variety of problems, including; aggression, anxiety, depression, separation anxiety, social difficulties, attachment difficulties, trauma and bereavement, oppositional behaviour, difficulty socializing and making friends.
Children also are specifically referred for behaviour and interpersonal problems resulting from learning disabilities, developmental issues, and developmental disorders, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, encopresis, enuresis, bipolar symptoms and autism spectrum disorder.
