Career Assessments are formal assessments conducted by registered educational psychologists utilising psychometric testing and various other informal testing methods. The primary focus of these tests is to determine which careers will best integrate/align with the individual’s personal combination of interests, value systems, personality, skills and abilities. Career assessments are also commonly referred to as career aptitude tests.
At Mizu Therapy & Assessment, our registered educational psychologist, Riza van der Merwe and Sunita Patel, ensures that the results attained from the Psychometric testing are accurately and correctly integrated with other information gathered from the individual. This ensures an assessment that is tailored to the client’s needs, empowering them to make informed career choices. Other information may include career interest questionnaires and or career genograms, personality tests, aptitude tests and more.

These assessments aim to assist individuals of various ages and life stages in making suitable educational and occupational decisions to manage their careers optimally.
Subject choice assessments are usually done with high schoolers when they have to make a choice between different subjects when they enter grade ten. Career test for high school students are conducted with many Grade 11 and 12 learners in assisting with tertiary study decisions. Career assessments can also help mature clients already in the working environment enhance their career satisfaction and needs or facilitate career change possibilities.
